Stockton police set the record straight on Delta's bomb scare and release suspect description

Ten days after Delta College was evacuated following the discovery of a suspicious device. Details pertaining to the exact nature of the object remain difficult to pin down. The Stockton Police declined to state whether the subject of suspision was indeed a bomb or just an inert object.

The witness to the crime, a non-student who to remain anonymoes saw the alleged suspect place the suspicious object on the brick ledge outside the bookstore. He then followed the suspect for a short distance before losing him, at which time he returned to the bookstore and alerted the campus police.

His description stated that the suspect was wearing a dark jacket, light blue jeans, a hat, and brown shoes, and that he had a scar on the left side of his face. The ethnicity of the suspect was not determined.

Delta College Campus Police were the first to respond to the call and they soon called the Stockton police after assessing the situation.

The Stockton EOD team responded once the school was evacuated and the neutralized the device.

"We approach every one of the situations as if it is a live ordinance," said Pete Smith, chief public information officer of the Stockton Police Department. "The end is that the device was rendered safe and no one was hurt."
