After weeks of planning by the ASBG, the homecoming rally took place Thursday Oct. 20. The idea of the rally was to promote the Delta Mustangs football game on Saturday Oct. 22. Many activities took place, with free food and music and with contestants winners receiving gifts. Domino's pizzas was given out to the students. The Mustang cheerleaders also performedduring the event. A total of $500 in prizes given out.

Pierre Tapia, ASBG president said, "This was the first time we did a homecoming rally and we learned a lot. We had a great turnout and a lot of students showed up." Tapia did say, however, he would like to work on student conduct.

David Ferrell adviser of the ASBG said, "I was amazed. There was a lot of people out here and it seemed like the students really enjoyed it. Everything was planned out well and organized."

"This was a great rally, everything just kind of came together. It was a little hectic, but all events are, but all of the ASBG came together and pulled this thing off," Marcos Villanueva, senator of committees said.

"The turnout was amazing. This quad area was packed with people. No other college hour has produced as much," Villanueva said.

One of the events during the rally was a rap contest. Marcelo Ambriz was one of the students who entered.

"I was coming out of class and I saw a big ass group of people on stage, and all my friends were telling me to enter it. So I decided to enter it," he said. "At first I was scared I was going to get booed off because am white."

Ambriz said. Ambriz ended up winning a round during the event. When asked what he thought of student government making events for students, he said, "I like it. I think there should be more of it. I think it really makes Delta unique. It's fun and it gives you something to do and watch."
