The Delta College Fashion Club and Lee jeans partnered in an effort to raise awareness about breast cancer. Club member were in the quad all last week from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with pins for those who support the cause by giving a donation.
Club members gave away pink ribbon pins to students who made a $5-donation to the foundation while sporting their favorite pair of denim jeans.
One Friday in October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lee Jeans encourages millions of people nationwide to put on their favorite pair of jeans and give a small donation of $5 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Participating businesses and organizations around the country in the month of October allow their employees and members to wear denim, in exchange for a donation to the Komen Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating breast cancer.
Since 1996, Lee National Denim Day has raised more than $52 million for breast cancer research, education and treatment programs, as well as screening.
The event appeared to have been a success, judging by the number of students floating around last week with ribbons displaying their support.
