The last two positions for the ASBG board were filed during the ASBG's weekly meeting. Melissa Garren took the position of senator of activities and Sarah Delun took senator of publicity.
"I interviewed Melissa last week, and she has had experience in leadership before. She was the leader of a youth group." ASBG President Pierre Tapia said. "We really need a senator of activities. She is open on Thursdays; she has a lot of time to deal with student government."
"This is my second year here at Delta and last year I was not involved in this school, and I think I was a lot like the students here that come to there classes and then they leave," Garren said. "I want to get involved and try and change that."
"Sarah Dionne is applying for senator of publicity, This is her first year at Delta and she is really excited to get involved in leadership. I would be glad to have her on the board," Tapia said. Sarah is part of Students Against Drunk Driving.
The board voted and approved Garren and Dionne for the positions. The board is now full, with all 16 positions filled.
Other items discussed included the homecoming rally for the Delta Mustangs.
"Since we are going to be gone the weekend of the game, some of the plans we had (were) cancelled those. But we're going to do the college hour on the Thursday before the event," Tapia said. "We need to think what we can do. Let's makes this huge." Newly appointed Garren will work on setting up the college hour event for Oct. 20.
The ASBG is going to donate an additional $5,000 to the American Red Cross. This makes the total of $10,000 they have donated for Hurricane Katrina victims.
