If there is one thing that Delta's campus is familiar with, it's Club Rush Week, and that is the chance for all the clubs to advertise what they're all about to students who may or may not know.
Most of these clubs have different goals in mind for the students who decide to participate. One of the fairly new clubs to Delta is the AMSA, the American Medical Students Association, and according to some of the members, the club as a lot in store for this year. When asked what they're all about, members explained that this club is best for those who are going to premed, because this national organization is based on community service at Dameron Hospital and elsewhere. This is also another good resource to apply to one's application. According to some of the members, club rush has been okay so far, with a few new members, but overall their club has approximately 40-50 members.
As for well-known clubs like Alpha Gamma Sigma, Delta's honors club, club rush seemed to have been going well. They're out to let students know that they're a non-profit organization helping both the community in their needs as well as each other with their academic excellence. They plan to help out other non-profit organizations, hold charities, as well as funraise, in order to give members scholarships and to hold club activities such as field trips and mini-parties. The most important item on their agenda include activities such as Sunday car washes, donating blood, toys, clothes, and canned food to the homeless. When asked how many of the members were new, Scotty Hoag explained that about two-thirds of the members are.
Another well-known club on campus is the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA), who seemed to be busy with all of the food they were serving. Club president Be Nguyen talked about how, so far, the club is doing well and that they have about 15 new members. Their goals for the semester include providing their members with more knowledge about their culture, as well as getting them involved in the social activities planned.
