Dating your instructor should be accepted

There is talk of bending the age-old-rule that does not allow college instructors date students.
Even though it is a rule now, there is a possibility that it is going on, even here at Delta College.
If a student of legal age, were dating a college instructor the odds of favoritism in the class would be high and also would be jealousy amongst the other students.
Say that the student who is dating the instructor does receive good grades for actually doing the work, participates in class, and shows up, the other students are still going to think it's because of the relationship.
Let's face it; a student who is dating an instructor and is enrolled in his or her class is beyond scrutiny. . .for all the parties involved, but let's forget all of that for just a minute.
What happens if the student is not enrolled in the instructor's class? Would it be all right for them to date?
If the two individuals are two consenting adults that have feelings for each other or are just having sexual encounters, then there should be no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to date.
The old rule should be amended, yes, but to a degree. I would have the new rule state that instructors would be allowed to date any member of the student body, who is of age, that will not be enrolled in his or her class.
I would also have the students read and sign a contract promising that they will not enroll in the class that their loved one is teaching. This would be an affective way to keep the jealousy to a level of none to minimal, which would have a lower level of scrutiny.
