The sale was a fund-raiser-like event put on by the Fashion Club to raise money for their annual spring trip to New York. Club members will leave in June for an industry tour in New York.
"The tour will be an industry tour that will compose the business side of the fashion industry," said Fashion Club member Nikole George. "We have appointments with top fashion professionals, such as Kate Spade and Sean John."
The Nearly New Sale was a sale of clothes, shoes, and accessories, such as purses and bracelets, for an array of different tastes. Everything at the sale was donated by various donators, such as the Wish List foundation and Weston Wear. Some clothes were donated by the members of the Fashion Club.
The clothes on sale at the event were reasonably priced. Shirts went for as little as $1. The event was a hit and had people waiting outside before it began.
"A lot of the things that have been donated are new, and have never been worn before," said George. "Most things that are here still have the original price tags on them."
"We [the Fashion Club] have been working hard to complete this event for about three months," said George. "The Fashion Club President, Keisha Wilkes, and Vice President Kenny Bear were really the ones that made this event happen; they really spear headed the event and lead us," George continued.
The Nearly New Sale was just one of the many events that the Fashion Club has held over their long existence. The Fashion Club would like to make the Nearly New Sale an annual event, or have a fashion sale every semester.
"We want this to be an annual event that we can make happen with great donations not only from our members, but from outside resources," said George.
