Brad Pappy, Royce Santos and Marcos Villanueva announced their plans to run in the ASBG election during comments from the public in a recent meeting.

Brad Pappy is running for secretary, Marcos Villanueva is running for senator of committees and Royce Santos is running for senator-at-large. The elections are May 10-11, and campaigning starts this week.

Another item discussed included Delta Day. "Delta Day is going along. I am contracting the originations, starting today to remind them where they need to be, and am setting up a map," said Pierre Tapia, senator of activities.

Last week's College Hour was also discussed. "College Hour last week was awesome. We had a huge turnout. I was able to host last week and I've gotten lots of good feedback. However, only three officers were able to make it for Delta Day, and I would really like a better turnout for Delta Day because I really need your guys' help." Tapia said. Delta Day is Thursday, April 28.

The election deadline was also discussed. "As we all know, we held an orientation last Thursday the 21st for candidates to be part of student government. It was part of our election code that they have to attend an orientation to run. Also, it states they have to attend at least one meeting. It was not really fair to hold an orientation when the only meeting they could have attended would have been on the 18th of last week," said Carmen Avitia, ASBG president. "I feel that we should extend the application deadline until 5 p.m.," Avitia added. The board agreed and all voted in favor.

The board also set a budget of $7,000 for their conference this weekend in Sacramento. The next ABSG meeting is Monday, May 2, at 2:30 p.m. in Shima 101.
