Delta golf team takes second in back-to-back conferences; runner-up to Sierra in league

Sierra topped the Bay Valley Conference Tournament at the Gold Hills Country Club with 372 and Delta finished second, shooting a 383, April 5.
Steve Meyer shot a three-under-par 69, Kyle Kulling shot a 74, Josh Harrison shot a 76, Ross Vilinskas shot an 82, and Jason Foosum shot an 82 for the Mustangs.
Meyer leads the league in scoring ahead of Dave Brown of Sierra by 5-6 strokes according to Sweet.
Delta finished second again in the seventh Bay Valley Conference Tournament with a 381, Thursday, April 7. American River took the tournament, shooting a 370.
The Mustangs trail Sierra 82-80 in the standings.

Softball
Delta's softball team, picked up two wins over Cosumnes River as Meghan Dyer threw a one-hitter, striking out 14. The Lady Mustangs topped Cosumnes River 6-0 in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday, March 31, and shut them out 7-0 in the later game.
The women totaled up six hits in the first game, as Amanda Vickers went 2-3 including a double and drove in three RBI; Lauren Langry went 2-3, and Dani Caldwell doubled.
Melanie Nordhaus won game two, allowing seven hits. Delta doubled their hits in game two, totaling 12 as Langry, Terra Fraser and Nordhaus had two hits each.
The Lady Mustangs trampled the 49ers (7-16) as they claimed the doubleheader, with Dani Caldwell going 7-7, driving in eight RBI in the two games, Tuesday, April 5.
The Lady Mustangs collaborated for 33 hits in 10 innings, as they are the number-one-ranked team in the north and third in the state. Meghan Dyer struck out 10 in the on-hitter victory in the nightcap.
Vickers went 4-6, including a double and three RBI; Veronica Castro went 2-3 with two RBI, and Jessica Gonzalez went 2-3 in game one. Bonnie Farris went 2-3, including a double and two RBI, while Langry went 2-4, with two RBI in the nightcap.
Baseball
The Delta baseball team traveled to Napa for a 19-3 victory Tuesday, April 5. They took the lead in the third, and finished off Napa with six runs in the sixth.
The Mustangs didn't trail and only gave up seven hits.
John Percessi topped the Mustangs with four hits, two RBI and two runs scored. Shane Farmer went 2-3, with two runs scored; Jacob Myking was 2-3 with a double, and John Misasi was 3-4, including a double and two runs scored for Delta.
The Mustangs had 19, hits including six singles in the sixth inning that lead to their six runs.
