Great things will be said about this new age remake of a classic addressing the concept of interracial coupling.

The movie focuses on not only the couple of Theresa Jones and Simon Green, but on the approval of Theresa's father, Percy Jones, who must decide whether Simon is good enough for his daughter.

While deciding to introduce Simon to her parents on the weekend of their anniversary, Theresa decides not to mention the fact that Simon is white, not black.

Upon arrival, Theresa's father immediately rejects Simon on appearance alone.

As the weekend progresses the tension rises between Percy and Simon to the point where they are racing down a speedway to prove the other wrong.

All Simon wants to do is show Percy that he is the right man for his daughter, that he truly cares for her, while trying to cover the fact that he just quit his job.

There are few moments throughout the movie in which Theresa and Simon have times to themselves.

The climax of the movie is when Theresa discovers Simon hid the truth that he quit his job and didn't tell her.

This discovery affects her so much because Simon mentions a few times through the movie how Theresa and him are completely honest with one another, so she feels truly hurt.

Not only is Simon affected by the outcome by Percy as well, because his wife, Ann, told him to stay out of Theresa and Simon's relationship.

A night party proves great for Percy and his wife, but Simon and Theresa end up having a huge argument and parting ways, only to have Percy realize that Simon truly is a good man for his daughter.

Minutes before the anniversary, Percy rushes to get Simon, who, in the end, proposes to Theresa again, giving way to a graceful ending.

All in all, the acting was extremely well and done in a believable fashion so that the characters weren't perceived as fake.

Bernie Mac and Ashton Kutcher played well off one another and their performance definitely affected the outcome of the movie.

The plot as described in detail above was definitely a well-written one and the direction of the movie was truly right.

In order to benefit from this article I recommend that you go see this movie, because it touches upon a matter that is still receiving comments to date, which is interracial coupling.

This movie handles the situation well and it would serve you well to watch the movie.
