I'm an avid Internet junkie that frequents the Yahoo! chat rooms.

I have been visiting the chat rooms for a good five to six months now and I have met many people; in fact, I have gained a few friends.

We have many discussions about what is going on in the world, like politics, entertainment, about our days, and life itself. Sometimes we sign in with a different screen name and pull pranks on each other for a good laugh.

There are many good things that happen in the chat room and then there has been a few times that bad things have happened. Specifically, it's the hacking into someone's computer and booting them off of the Yahoo! server.

I am always falling victim to being booted off the Yahoo! server, and it's quite a pain in the butt.

One night, a booter was able to use my screen name as a booting-bot to boot people out of the chat room. Because of this, a known hacker was called in the room to scan my computer for booting tools.

I admit I had one booting tool, but just to check it out. The hacker saw this and threatened to destroy all my files. I had to plead with this person to leave my computer alone because I do school work; she did listen and let me off with a warning.

Now I'm extra careful in the chat rooms, I always have my instant messages turned off, and I don't allow anyone on my buddy list. As an extra precaution, I use "YtunnelPro," which helps prevent you from being booted and has extra little gadgets.

Also, there are more Yahoo! chat tools out there that are supposed to protect you from booters, but due to the fact there may be booters on campus, I won't name them.
