Dancing in African Soweto Gospel Choir fashion
The choir makes its way to the Bob Hope Theater in Stockton, with a flurry of beautiful music

South Africa's exciting vocal sensation is coming to Stockton's Bob Hope Theatre. The African Soweto Gospel Choir is made up of 26 vocalists, musicians, dancers and drummers from the best talent of churches and communities in Johannesburg's Soweto District. It is considered the most fascinating vocal group to come from South Africa since Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
The choir is on a 35-city North American tour, with stops at the famous Carnegie Hall in New York City. The performance features "Voices from Heaven," their newest release, a song sung in six different languages, including Zulu, Xhosa, and Sotho. David Mulovhedzi created the choir back in 2002 and is currently the director.
Not only has the Soweto choir toured in North America; they've been dazzling audiences all over the world. They've performed from the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, to Australia, Europe, and Africa.
The choir was also voted by American Gospel's Music Awards Best Gospel Choir 2003. And they have been receiving rave reviews from New York Times, calling the performance "spirited and spectacular."
Tickets to the show range from $29 to $45. Children 12 and under receive a special price of $22 for any seat in the theater.
