And the Oscar goes to? "Million Dollar Baby." This movie took over the Oscars with four main awards: best picture, best directing, best supporting actor, and best actress. I haven't seen this movie, but since it won many of the main awards I am intrigued to go spend my $8.75. This award show is one where a knowledgeable board, called the Academy chooses who wins the prestigious awards.

Hollywood has its glamorous night, the news cameras and reporters have a field day deciding who is looking the best and who brought who down the red carpet. My pick for best dressed goes to Beyonce, with a beautiful black strapless gown by Versace, but one actress I was somewhat disappointed in was Hilary Swank; even though she won best actress her dress wasn't impressive. The navy blue Guy Laroche gown looked beautiful from the back but as soon as she turned around the gown went up to her neck, it seemed plain to me from the front view.

The host of the night, comedian Chris Rock, was controversial. When I first heard he was hosting I thought this is going to be good. He doesn't seem like a celebrity to be hosting such a prestigious award show.

One comment he made was about Jude Law, that he was everywhere in Hollywood this past year. After that was said, Sean Penn came up to the stage and mentioned Jude Law to be one of the best actors out there. Obviously he doesn't have a sense of humor, as many of the people who attended this award show. They seemed so serious when Rock would crack jokes. Lighten up a little bit.

Overall, I enjoyed the show; Chris Rock made it bearable for the long three hours. Sometimes I just wish these award shows would cut to the biggest award first, so we don't have to watch every little award handed out.
