The Asian American Journalist Association of Sacramento is giving journalists a chance to meet many news anchors, and newspaper media.

The AAJA is hosting "Careers in the Mass Media: A Student Workshop." Students can network with professional journalists, learn about the AAJA scholarships/internships, and bring their own videotapes, clips and resumes for one-on-one critiques. The AAJA has been around for 20 years, and this is their second workshop in the News10 Studio.

"The workshop is sponsored by the local chapter, but open to high school and college students who are interested in the median with out regard to ethnicity," said Sharon Ito. "Anyone who is interested in a career in the media and might benefit by meeting some of the panelists or bringing some of their work so they can get some one-on-one critiques of their work, would surely be welcome."

The professional journalists are: Josh Freedom du Lac, a Sacramento Bee Media Columnist; Ito, a News10 Good Morning anchor; Paul Kitagaki, a Sacramento Bee staff photographer; Tina Macuha, a Good Day Sacramento anchor/reporter; Carl Watanabe, a KXJJ-KXPR FM station manager; Lonnie Wong, a FOX40 reporter; Pamela Wu, a KCRA 3 reporter/anchor.

The workshop is Saturday, March 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the News10 Studios, where refreshments will be served. The studio is located on 400 Broadway in Sacramento.

The event is free, but you must reserve your spot by Tuesday, March 8, by calling (916) 321-3323, and let them know if you are planning on bringing your work for the critiquing.
