The city of San Francisco was full of wonder as the 14th annual WonderCon convention took place this past weekend, February 18-20. Over twenty thousand fans packed inside the Moscone Center Exhibit Hall to buy comic books, DVDs, collectable toys, cards, and meet their favorite celebrities and artists.

Special guests included at this years' WonderCon convention were Neal Adams, best known for his depiction of Green Lantern/Green Arrow in the 1970's; Sergio Aragones, who has been drawing silly pictures in Mad magazine for over forty years; Brian Michael Bendis, who has won "Best Writer" for the thrilling Ultimate Spider-Man comic book; John Cassaday who is currently working on the ongoing Astonishing X-Men; Amanda Conner, who has worked on comic book titles such as Birds of Prey and X-Men Unlimited; Arnold Drake, comic book artist that worked on Batman and Superman in the 1960's and 1970's; Mark Evanier, writer of Scooby-doo and Yogi Bear; Adam Hughes, writer of Superman/Gen 13; Jimmy Palmiotti, who's currently working on and developing Beautiful Killer at Universal Studios; Harvey Pekar, who's best known for his autobiography slice-of-dice comic book; Alex Ross, who devised the characters from Marvels Earth X; Gail Simone, writer of an episode for Justice League on Cartoon Network; Jeff Smith, best known for making art work in graphic novels; Kevin Smith, critically acclaimed director and a award-wining comic writer; William Stout, who most recently came up with designs for The Muppets Wizard of Oz, due out in May 2005, and Arthur Suydam who is most famous for his art in Batman and Tarzan.

Another special guest, Al Gordon, has been inking for Marvel and DC comics for twenty years. He is a current native of San Francisco and always enjoys coming to the convention.

"I always have fun at this convention and at San Diego," Gordon says. "They're two of the funnest conventions to go to."

Gordon also thinks that this year's convention is exceeding last year's totals.
