"It's a way for the clubs to be in the middle of the quad to get more members," said Zahra Khan, the chair of the ICC and ASBG member.
Club rush has existed longer than Khan can recall.
"People expect it to be (around)," she said.
Not all clubs have to join in for Club Rush week, but it's good for them to get their name out and recruit new members.
"It's not required, but most want to do it," said Khan. "I think it's really (great). People become aware of what the clubs are doing and they gain more respect."
Three tables were set out Tuesday, Feb. 22 for the lunch crowd in the quad of the Delta Campus.
Lindsay Noriega, president of the Alpha Gamma Sigma, was out on the sunny day promoting her club.
"We have table times," said Noriega, regarding who set the times straight on who would help out new members.
The AGS meets on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. in the Shima Boardroom.
One of the newest clubs to Delta spread their name out around the campus by giving out over $300 in prizes and raffles.
"We donated $50 to Mario Mare for the blood drive, and gave away an iPod shuffle," said Leroy Hill, president of Delta Psi (psychology). "It's to get our name out there."
Treasurer Marie Boyd added "it was over $100," about the iPod they gave away.
The Delta Psi club meets the second Thursday of every month at 2 p.m. in Holt 240.
The Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan table was decorative and colorful. The MEChA club has been around for over 15 years. President Ricardo Aguilar has been a member for two years.
The MEChA clubs meets Tuesday and Thursday at noon in the Shima Boardroom.
Club week lasts until March 4, which is Club Night in Upper Danner at 4:30 p.m.
Anyone who wants to create his or her own club can do so. To make a club idea come to life, one must go to the student activities to fill out a form and a few sheets and have an advisor sign.
