Thanks to people like Pierre Tapia, the ASBG Senator of Activities, Delta College and the ASBG have an upcoming semester planned full of activities for new and returning students. Among these activities are Delta Day, a visit from the world's strongest woman, student elections, Clubs Night, and College Hour on every first and third Thursday.

Delta Day is where community and campus resources gather together to make in formation available on health care, legal aid, community services, and many other topics of interest. It will be an excellent resource for low income and disadvantaged students and families.

For those people who decide to attend Delta Day with their children, there will be bounce houses and other entertainment provided for them.

Sometime in March, the world's strongest woman, Jill Mills, will be on campus as a guest speaker. As inspiration for those interested in power lifting, she has a message to those people on her official website.

"I think the most important message I can send to anyone reading this is...No matter where you come from or what kind of a life you have lived, it is up to YOU to make the most of your life," writes Jill. "One of my biggest pet peeves is when I see a person wasting their life, using their misfortune as an excuse to sit around and feel sorry for him/herself..."

"We all have faced adversities. Stop making excuses and assume responsibility for your destiny. It isn't easy, but you don't have to settle. You just have to get off your butt and take action. Whether it is getting in the best shape of your life, or getting back in school, or opening your own business... I'm sending you the official 'kick in the pants' you need to get started!"

Mills will also perform a demonstration for the audience.

Coming up later in the semester is Clubs Night. Clubs Night has been designed along the same lines as Clubs Weekend was last semester. It's a night for the on-campus clubs to get together and socialize, with free dinner and a guest speaker provided by ASBG. Following the dinner will be a game of broomball at Oak Park Ice Arena in Stockton. "It will be an awesome team building experience," said Tapia.

Of all the events ASBG has planned for this semester, the biggest and most exciting one was the brainchild of Tapia himself. Delta College will be holding its first annual Film Festival in late February or early March.

When asked what inspired him to plan this event, Tapia stated, "After I took the beginning TV production class, I realized that there are a lot of artistic students on campus who have no avenue of creative output for their talents." The film festival will provide a forum where gifted students from the video production classes can display their masterpieces for their fellow students, faculty, and staff.
