Students at Delta College frequently see a teacher who is always in a rush, full of energy, moving constantly while lecturing. A special teacher who likes to interact and help students, and is considered by students one of the best at Delta College, is Dr. Glen A. Dolberg, a teacher that students regard as an encouraging and supportive person.

Dolberg obtained a B.A. and M.A. in German and English, and a PhD in German language and literature. His studies of German and English have qualified him to teach those languages and linguistics courses as well. He has taken numerous theology courses at Brigham Young University that qualifies him to teach western religion. His doctorate provided him a background in the visual arts.

Dolberg has been teaching at Delta for almost 30 years and he currently serving as the chairman of the religion and humanities discipline in the Social Science Division. He taught at UC Davis for four years, Ohio University for three years in Athens, Ohio, and Brigham Young University for 1 1/2 years in Provo, Utah. He currently teaches Civilization and Humanities 3, Anthropology and Humanities 4, and Religion and Humanities 14B.

Dr. Dolberg came to Delta College by accident.

"Years ago, most Ph.D.s never considered teaching at a community college, and since I had been teaching at Ohio University before finishing my Ph.D., I expected to return to the university scene myself; then the opportunity to come here was too tempting. There were only 10 other Ph.D.s at Delta when I accepted a one-year contract here. Once I started here, I liked it so much that I just didn't want to leave," Dolberg said.

Dolberg does not "like" teaching, because he loves it. He loves interacting with, being inspired by, and learning from human beings.
