The emergency Food Bank provides a three-day emergency packaged food supply to over 100,000 San Joaquin County residents annually.

On Saturday, Nov. 20, the Emergency Food Bank put on a 5K, 3.1-mile run and walk for hunger.

Among the participants was first place Titus Mutinda. Mutinda's hometown is Nairobi, Kenya. He is also a triathlete.

This is the first short run he has competed in.

"This race was not so competitive for me, I usually run 10K," said Mutinda.

One of the injured participants was Katelyn McGeehee. She twisted her ankle coming around the corner to the finish line.

"I like running. I mostly do it for fun," she replied when asked why she chose to run that day.

Adults were not the only participants. Among the youngest was Armando Ramirez, a three-year-old boy supporting his mother. Little Armando held a sign reading "Run Mommy Run," to show his support for his mom.

"I've only been running for a couple of weeks. This is my first race. It takes two weeks to notice the benefits," said Stephanie Ramirez, mother of Armando.
