The Scott Peterson trial comes to an end
Is the death penalty really the best option, or should Peterson be given life in prison?

Peterson was convicted of first degree for murdering Laci Peterson and convicted of second degree for murdering their unborn child.
The jury convicted Peterson with special circumstances, which means that he is now eligible for the death penalty.
The prosecution team, was led by Rick Disasto and the defense team was led by Mark Geragos.

December 24, '02, Laci Peterson is reported missing and Scott Peterson said that he last saw her getting ready to walk the dog. Scott Peterson goes fishing in the Bay Area; December 25, '02, Modesto Police and rescue teams search Dry Creek Park, also a tip line was established.
December 26, '02, friends and family open up a volunteer center at the Red Lion Hotel and established a $100,000 reward; December 31 '02, a candlelight vigil was held to mark a week since Laci Peterson's disappearance.
January 2, '03, police show photos of Scott Peterson's boat and truck to prove his story that he was fishing in the Bay Area; January 24, '03, Amber Frey announces before a press conference that she was having an affair with Scott Peterson, and that she thought he wasn't married.
January 28, '02, Scott Peterson is interviewed by ABC's Diane Sawyer. Scott Peterson tries to clear his name during the interview, saying he didn't kill his wife and that he did admit to the affair with Amber Frey; February 10, '03, this was supposed to be the projected date that Laci Peterson would have given birth.
February 18, '02, with a search warrant, officers remove evidence from the home of Scott Peterson; March 5, '03, the case was reclassified from a missing person to homicide.
April 15, '03, bodies were found in the San Francisco Bay. An autopsy report concluded that the bodies were Laci Peterson and her unborn child, Connor Peterson; April 18, '03, Scott Peterson was arrested near Toppey Pine Golf Course.
