Event promotes recycling

Recycling day provides people with many options and raises recycling awareness

Reduce! Reuse! Recycle! The Civic Auditorium held a Recycling Day for America on Sunday, Nov 14. They had live music, speakers, games, food, and fun, T-Shirts made out of plastic bottles were given away.

"Where recycling pays," is a J & J Recycling motto. J & J Recycling was there to tell people how much they pay for recyclables; $1.25 for aluminum cans, $.31 for bi-metal, $.67 for plastic, $.37 for HDPE, and $.082 for glass. Their location is 2214 Robindale Avenue in Stockton, or phone 462-8473 for more information.

Persons looking for a place to drop off used oil and filters, can go to Jiffy Lube. Jiffy Lube is the closest drop off station to Delta College. They are located at 6220 Pacific Avenue, phone 473-2368.

Ever thought of keeping those chopsticks when your done with them? Well, Kwytza Kraft's did. They make all kinds of things with them, such as lamps, and waste baskets. For more information you can go to www.kwytzakraft.com.

Recycle Rex has a free Recycool Club for school kids between the ages of 5 and 13. For more information visit www.conservation.ca.gov, or call 1-800-RECYCLE.

Laptop Lunches promotes better nutrition, waste reduction, and lunch-making satisfaction. It comes with a book, five containers, and a carrying case. When they have fundraisers at schools, 20 percent of the funds raised go back to the school.
