Sophomore Megan Robinson answered back to four shots, by Lady Mustang Joanna Flood in the second, only to let one past her by Christina Quitasol to pull Delta out of a scoreless slump.
"This is really gonna get us out of our slump," said Sophomore Quitasol. "We haven't scored in two games; it took us out of our losing strike."
The Lady Mustangs came into the game with losses under their belt, and with their heads facing the ground; after defeating the Lady Hawks they have a chance at the playoffs.
"We have a good chance," said head coach Lloyd Ratto. "We're 13 of 16, but we can't say we're in a slump (with the last two games) a 2-0 and 4-0 loss; one was the number one team. We are not going to score with a good team, but with good defense it will keep us in it."
During the first half and most of the second, Delta ran the ball up and down the field, fighting for a chance to get the ball past Robinson.
"We have to fight for everything we get," said Ratto. "It's the same scenario game after game. We do great defense, but we can't put the ball in the net."
Quitasol and Deidra Rodriguez took many shots, with Flood shooting Robinson at every chance she could. She got the crowd up on their feet, with every shot, but couldn't seem to connect with the net.
"She had the opportunity, but she doesn't play up front. We put her up there because of speed," said Ratto.
With a win against Contra Costa College Tuesday, Nov. 9, the Lady Mustangs may advance to the playoffs.
"I definitely want to go to the playoffs," said Flood.
