Lady Mustangs defended their record with two more big wins

The Santa Rosa Bear Cubs gave it their all to hand the Lady Mustangs an upset bringing their league record wins to a jolting stop, but Delta fought back to beat Santa Rosa 3-1, Wednesday, Oct. 27.

The Lady Bear Cubs were only one point from a 2-1 lead, but the Lady Mustangs earned six points in a row by Karen Kroplin in the third game and trampled Santa Rosa in the fourth, as they won 30-23, 28-30, 31-29, 30-17 at Marcopulos Gym.

Sarah Buhr led the Lady Mustangs with 21 kills, 16 digs and two aces.

After the Lady Panthers took Delta to five games Oct. 6, but the Lady Mustangs swept Sacramento River in three games; 30-25, 30-22, 30-16, Friday, Oct. 29.

Buhr made 10 kills, 11 digs, and seven blocks Cindy Stayton recorded five kills, and seven aces Kroplin made eight kills Katie Hoag had four kills, and18 assists and Jen Emerson had 18 assists.



Football

The Mustangs took on Fresno City College, the second-ranked team in Northern California, and defeated them 38-34 Saturday, Oct. 30.

Steve Wichman completed 30 of 49 passes for 366 yards, and he threw three touchdowns and three interceptions.
