The best way to learn Spanish is to know the right teacher to take the class from. Very important in these days to learn a second language in order to succeed in life so Manuel Camacho was chosen as the best for many students.
Camacho obtained a BA in communicative disorders at CSW Northridge, an M.A. in Spanish, and a minor in ESL and Italian. He obtained second M.A. in educational leadership at Pepperdine.
Camacho previously worked at a high school in Los Angeles where he learned how to teach and deal with students. He worked for there 10 years.
"Being at Delta College, I appreciate more my job because I feel that I am doing my best in teaching. The experience that I had in high school helped me to understand students," Camacho said.
Camacho had trouble teaching at the high school because he was dealing with teenagers and he said that being at Delta is completely different, because now he is teaching adults.
"In my classes, students want to learn Spanish, so it helps me give the best of me...They are respectful of each other and everybody helps each other in order to learn more." Camacho, said.
Camacho decided to teach at Delta because it was the first place where he was accepted. He applied for many other community colleges, but because of the opportunity at Delta, he decided to go for it.
Camacho has been teaching on the campus for two years and he is teaching Spanish 1 and 2.
"I like to have fun in the classroom and being there, I become someone else where students can learn more having lots of fun," Camacho said.
Camacho likes to show enthusiasm so students will be motivated to learn. He likes to give many examples in order for students to understand Spanish better. He is spontaneous in a humorous way and students like how he demonstrates the language.
"As a teacher, I have to understand the personality of each student, so I can explain better...I have to be very clear," Camacho commented.
