People seem so afraid of change these days. Things are meant to change over time. Sure, sometimes this change is for the worst, but it is as many times for the better. George Lucas has caught a lot of flack for altering the visuals and, to an extent, the story of his classic 70s sci-fi flicks.

The fact of the matter is: These films are a work of his own creation. Conjured from his deepest imaginations. These are the ideas that captivated so many over the past three decades. Yes, the Star Wars films have become beloved by people all around the globe and have become as much ours as Lucas', but the creative process cannot and should not be sacrificed to appease the fans.

Mankind has always been chained down by the limitations set around him. The vision of the world Lucas hoped to create was not possible at the time of creation, hence the reason why the series was delayed after the first three movies. There were parts to the story he wanted to convey, but was not able to do justice to it.

Most people are so uppity with the new additions to the Star Wars DVDs. They see Lucas as having tarnished timeless classics beyond repair for the rest of time- a sad misconception, to say the least. What Lucas was trying to accomplish was touch up the imperfection that time has brought to his creations and perfect touches to his masterpiece.

You'd never be able to please everyone. There will always be some joker who watches the first three movies and scoffs at the minor imperfection time has brought to the series, I.E., different voice actors for single characters or inconsistent visual technology. Lucas is free to exercise his creative license on his work, regardless of what others think.

Why is this treated as such a tremendous affront to the entire series? The storyline has not been altered or touched in any way. All that was changed was a minor facelift of visuals and audio. Not something to get all puffy about, in my opinion.
