For the next few weeks, the SDA will be out in the courtyard asking Delta students to fill out surveys, which will tell them what the students want.
"The survey is to find out what the students want because the student government doesn't come out and ask," said Max Arrechea.
This survey includes questions about "what ASBG stand for," "who are they," "have you ever gotten help from the ASBG," and "what kind of help do you need from (the) ASBG this year."
"We want to get everyone's opinion and find out want they want," said Ernesto Guerrero.
Once they have accumulated enough data on what the approximately 18,000 students want they will review the comments and write a letter to send to the ASBG and college President Raul Rodriguez, which they hope will change some people's opinion of them.
"It seems that they (ASBG) are attacking our (SDA) character, instead of reviewing the ideas..." said Arrechea
"They are showing their character, that is something that is shown all by itself," said ASBG President Carmen Avitia.
Last weekend the ASBG put on a clubs weekend, which Arrechea refers to as an "amazing activity for club," but said not everything is about the clubs.
"They have to think that not everybody is in clubs," Arrechea said. "So they have to support other students with scholarships," which he noted should be raised from $43,000 to $70,000.
David Farrell, supervisor of the students activities noted that the district gives Delta $16,000, which is used for scholarship funds for students.
If you add up all the money that was given away just last year it would equal $50,000.
"The students government makes that money," said Farrell. "(They get their money from) the flea market, which gives jobs to the students."
Several students are helping the SDA with getting the word out, such as holding the sign or handing out survey sheets.
"I'm just helping the out, like a foot solider," said Oliverto Flores.
"It's excellent if that's want they want. They have free right if that is what they feel is necessary," Avitia said. "I am not here to please everyone; you can't please everyone."
