The clock is ticking towards this year's presidential election.

A shift in tide between George W. Bush, and John Kerry has taken place quite often, and changing by large intervals.

As of Sept. 9, Bush was in the lead by an astounding 51 percent to Kerry's 41 percent.

This is quite a push for Bush, since one month ago Kerry was in the lead 48 percent to 43 percent, which was quite a lead.

It was just last week that this momentum shifted to Bush, and it hasn't changed in this last week, which seems to be a firm standing.

With the election about two months away, there is still no way to tell if these numbers are going to continue.

Although it has been shown that Kerry is now losing favor on key points such as the Iraqi situation, and the economy these numbers have taken an astounding favor towards Bush, since August, when the numbers were actually quite close.

The biggest factor against Kerry is the topic of the war on terrorism. Since Republican momentum has moved that topic to a top priority, and that is a category Bush has dominated, Kerry is only losing from it.

With a huge lead over Kerry, of 58 percent to 35 percent, Kerry may never take the lead in that category.

In the past, it has been prevalent that changes in the tide, like this, eventually disappear.

In particular, a turning point for Kerry may be during the upcoming debates. But only time will tell on that.

The only major category in Kerry's favor at this point in time seems to be in health care, where he leads 47 percent to 42 percent.

After the Republican convention, Bush's approval seemed to rocket past Kerry's, even in issues Kerry had been leading in August.

But again, the debates may play a large role in these numbers. However if these numbers remain so greatly in Bush's favor, by the time the debates role around, Kerry may have a great deal of catching up to do. There also the Nader factor to deal with.
