On the first day of attending my first day of classes here, I had become extremely hungry around mid-day. I had also had a huge craving for a cheeseburger.
So, instead of going to the Sherwood or Weber's Town Mall, I decided to try out Danner Hall's food. I had asked myself if I was making a wrong choice, but then I had told myself that Danner Hall would be a lot better than high school food. Oh boy, was I in for a surprise.
When I had got the burger, it looked very scrumptious indeed. When I took my first bite of the burger, it was a bit on the crunchy side, but when I bit into towards the middle of the burger, a huge amount of juice squirted in my mouth. So, after only three bites of the burger, I threw it out.
I just could not believe that eating the burger was almost like eating a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach from "Fear Factor." I just could not believe that they were feeding hungry college students stuff like that. All I kept thinking was, I am going to see Joe Rogan walk through the doors at any minute and tell me that I had failed the stunt because I did not finish the "roach textured burger."
So, for about a semester and a half, I had avoided food from Danner Hall, and just ate what the snack machines had to offer. This did eventually stop, and I just waited until I got home to eat.
A semester and a half I had started to see some eye appetizing food in Danner Hall. . .delicious looking doughnuts. They were so yummy, and because they were yummy, I had begun to forgive Danner Hall.
For some strange reason, I had returned to the scene of the crime, which was the "cockroach textured burger," or so I had thought. The burger that I ate ended up being quite tasty, so I had forgiven Danner Hall for the burger that had scared me away earlier on.
So, now I am a bit braver when it comes to trying out the foods at Danner Hall, but I will never forget that horrible texture of the burger.
I don't know if that student/Danner Hall chef got fired, or not, but the about 90 percent of the food is very tasty.
Our parents have taught us to never judge a book by its cover, which is a very true valuable lesson. I have added this little line to the saying, "give the book a second chance, for there may have been something you over looked."
The old saying with the new addition is my motto for trying things out, like restraints or Danner Hall itself. It was the new addition to the motto that helped me become braver to try out the burger again.
So, go out to the world and give something a second chance, and if you like it a second time around, you can thank me for it.
(Warning, trying on clothes that are too small, a second time around may rip the clothing article. . .do not try this at any store, or the employees will make you purchase ripped clothes.)
