The Lady Mustangs split four games in the pool during the Cuesta Tournament

The Lady Mustangs split two games while playing in the Cuesta Tournament in San Luis Obispo, Friday, Sept. 10.

Their first matchup with Grosmont became a 14-7 loss, but they came back to beat the College of the Canyons 15-3.

Elise Schwartz threw eight goals in the two games for Delta, while Allison Williams scored five goals against Canyons.

Kellie Addington made three goals in the second game, and goalie Brittany Carmichael stopped nine balls in the game against Grossmont.

Saturday, Sept. 11, the Lady Mustangs beat Cerritos 11-7, but lost 8-5 to West Valley later in the day in the Cuesta Tournament.

Katrina Cockerill, Elise Schwartz, and Jenna Pioli all made three goals in game one.

Alison Williams scored two in the second game, and goalie Brittany Carmichael made eight saves.

Women's soccer

Delta beat Los Positas 2-1 on their home field in Livermore Friday, Sept. 10.

Sophomore Christina Quitasol scored the Lady Mustangs' two goals in the first half to lead her team. Tinoco Tegan gave Delta a run for their money when she made Los Positas's only goal in the second half.

Sophomore Ashley Lopez saved 23 of 24 attempts at reaching the net.

Men's water polo
--------------------

Delta lost by four in the West Valley Tournament when they played Merced Saturday, Sept. 11.

Chris Tunquist, and Thomas Dietrich scored two goals apiece and goalie Zach Barnes made six saves.

In their second game with Modesto they lost but six, leaving the pool with a 12-6 score.

Derek Davis scored two goals and Nick Krieger, Kenton Drake and Sean Swanson each made one. Barnes stopped six of 24 attempts.

Volleyball
-----------

In Saratoga, Delta beat West Valley three games to one, 30-11, 30-22, 30-18, Friday, Sept. 10.

Cindy Stayton dominated the court with 14 kills, Sarah Buhr and Breanna Zellmer with 11 kills.

Jennifer Emerson made 27 assists, and Katie Hoag helped with 21 assists.

Football
----------

The Mustangs lost by 10 to the College of the Siskiyous Saturday, Sept. 11.

Lionel Scott got Delta on the board first, but it didn't last long.

The Eagles gave them chances with their 16 penalties for 119 yards, but Delta missed on three touchdowns, and didn't recover three of their six fumbles.

College of the Siskiyous was on the ball with their 219 rushing yards, versus the Mustangs 90. Delta had the better hand overall, with 479 offense yards versus their 425.

They had fewer penalties, and more first downs, but what cost the Mustangs was their fumbles, and failure to earn any extra points after making three of their touchdowns.
